From the 14th of January 2020, Microsoft will stop supporting security updates for Windows 7 so our IT experts recommend upgrading to Windows 10.
Windows 7, that over 30% of people are still using, was released almost 10 years ago. Microsoft has now announced that users should upgrade to Windows 10 while it phases out Windows 7. Of course, users are not being forced to upgrade. Windows 7 will not simply disappear, but the security updates for Windows 7 will no longer be released as of January next year. This means that, as support is ending, users will be vulnerable to security threats and attacks.
In addition to the security aspect, another convincing reason as to why users should consider Windows 10 is that Windows desktop applications and certain web browsers will eventually stop supporting Windows 7, equaling compatibility issues.
It is relatively easy to upgrade to and it’s free with a Windows 7 product key. Plus, Windows 10 does offer a lot of advantages. It boots faster than its predecessor, has better support for modern hardware and has a number of security improvements.
