There’s currently 3 different types of phone systems that are widely used in the UK.
Traditional analogue phone systems: built using older technology found in your home, this system is expensive and lacks features which modern businesses require to be successful. This system is phasing out as of 2025.
VoIP business phone systems: These newer systems Internet instead of a landline to transfer voice data at a much faster speed and at a lower cost.
Cloud Hosted VoIP Phone System: This is similar to the system above but instead of hosting the equipment on site it’s stored on a cloud server.
Many companies are migrating to this type of phone system as it provides more flexibility. With many large businesses choosing to host their tools online it allows them to integrate and work together.
Yes, the PSTN system that we have used for decades will be shutting down in 2025. It’s sad to see it go but we are all moving onto better things with internet powered VoIP phones.
Fortunately the data requirement for VoIP phone systems per call is very low at 200kbps.
Most internet connections in the UK can easily support multiple calls at the same time, even when in the slower spectrum.
If are still not happy with your current internet connection we might be able to help you with that too.
